Level 1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training – Course Details

About this course

Practice and teach Restorative Yoga the Feminine Way as a Specialist Women’s Restorative Yoga Teacher. This course is designed to support women, including those who work with women and/or identify as women.

Stress is an epidemic in our modern world and is the cause of many illnesses. That’s why a Feminine Approach to Restorative Yoga is so therapeutic. It helps to balance our nervous system, bring it back to a point of equilibrium and our body-mind to optimum health and vitality. Restorative Yoga can help many chronic stress-related conditions like Adrenal Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Autoimmune diseases, digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. It’s also a wonderful practice for any body who needs a little more rest and restoration in their lives—ie: every body!!

Restorative Yoga is a form of ‘active relaxation’ which involves the artful use of yoga props to create supported, therapeutic variations of the classical yoga postures. In this comprehensive online course created by Senior Yoga Teacher and Bliss Baby Yoga Director, Ana Davis, you’ll be introduced to this subtle yogic art and learn the basics in practising and teaching Restorative Yoga postures and sequences.

You’ll grow your understanding of how to adopt a Feminine Approach to Restorative Yoga, including how to work with your own and your students’ natural energies, how to support women’s health, monthly and life-cycles, and how to use your understanding of Ahimsa (kindness towards the self and others), both on and off the mat.

In this practical and accessible course Ana shares her passion for and wealth of experience in this therapeutic approach to yoga that has so many applications for female and male students alike.

By completing the Bliss Baby Yoga Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course, teachers are able to accrue some of these necessary professional development hours as well as to gain the all-important knowledge and skills to launch them into this specialised area of  yoga practice and teaching.

(The following information re: Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance requirements for CPD was true at the time of publishing – please check the Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance websites via links below to confirm their requirements).

For Yoga Australia members, 12 CPD points (Continuing Professional Development) must be accrued each year to keep your membership active. These can be accrued through contact or non-contact hours of study. Our Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course is made up of non-contact hours of study, however as our course includes an assessment component (final case study assignment), for Yoga Australia members (as per their Continuing Education Policy) the hours spent completing our course are counted as contact hours, core to yoga teaching (1 point per hour). For Yoga Alliance members, according to their Continuing Education Requirements, every 3 years starting from your initial date of registration, each RYT and E-RYT must complete and log a minimum of:

  1. 45 hours teaching yoga, and
  2. 30 hours of yoga related training that is directly related to one of the Educational Categories, of which:

Our 28 hour Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course (non-contact hours) can therefore meet the 20 non-contact hours requirement.

At the end of the course we will also include you on our online directory of qualified Restorative Yoga teachers.

FAQ: Is this course registered with Yoga Alliance?

While there isn’t currently a facility for this online course to be registered with Yoga Alliance, our school and teachers are. Bliss Baby Yoga is a Yoga Alliance RPYS (Registered Prenatal Yoga School), RYS 200 (Registered Yoga School), and our lead teacher Ana Davis is a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider), as well as an E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with minimum 500 hrs training) and RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher). The certificate of completion presented upon completion of this course will include our RPYS and YACEP registration stamps, as well as a breakdown of the hours per Educational Category for Yoga Alliance continuing education.

FAQ: If I want to be able to teach Restorative Yoga classes, do I have to already be a qualified yoga teacher to enrol in your online course?

Our Bliss Baby Yoga training courses are designed as post-graduate study for qualified yoga teachers, and are not alone designed to qualify graduates to teach restorative yoga classes to the public if they are not yet a qualified yoga teacher (having completed a minimum Level 1 / 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training).

The prerequisite to enrol in our courses is at least 6-12 months consistent prior yoga practice experience – so that you are familiar with the basic postures / practices / terminology and can therefore gain the most from this training. We strongly recommend undertaking a 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training in addition to our specialised teaching before teaching any public classes, so that you can be insured as a qualified yoga teacher.

FAQ: Is your Restorative Yoga training aimed at Prenatal / Postnatal students, or for teaching general Restorative Yoga classes?

This course is designed to equip yoga teachers with the specific skills and knowledge to teach specialised Restorative Yoga classes to female and male students of all ages and backgrounds. You will also learn how to incorporate Restorative Yoga postures into your general yoga classes.

If your particular area of interest is women’s yoga (including prenatal / postnatal yoga) we recommend our Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training + Prenatal & Postnatal Restorative Online Yoga Class bundle package. And you may also be interested in undertaking further complementary study with our Online Prenatal and Postnatal and Fertility Yoga Teacher Training Courses.

FAQ: Do the Bliss Baby Yoga online courses certify me to be able to teach in the USA/UK?

Bliss Baby Yoga is registered with the international yoga body, Yoga Alliance, as a RPYS (Registered Prenatal Yoga School) and RYS-200 (Registered Yoga School).

We have had yoga teachers from all over the world complete our online training courses.

Upon completion of our Online training courses, graduates receive a certificate of completion, noting the content, hours, and date of completion, which can be submitted for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points for Yoga Alliance / Yoga Australia registered teachers.

If you are registered with a particular local or international registration body you may like to contact your association or insurance provider directly to confirm if they recognise internationally based online teacher training – for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points or otherwise.

The Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course is easy to navigate—it’s all clearly laid out and you don’t have to be a ‘techy’ person to figure it out!

This course consists of 3 modules. Each module consists of a varied and stimulating mix of audio lectures, video-lectures, sample video classes, and accompanying reading from the course manuals. Have your yoga mat and props* at the ready to practice the postures yourself for an embodied experience. The focus of this course is on ‘experiential learning’ so that you can experience the recommended practices yourself prior to teaching them.

*We recommend having the following props to get the most out of completing this course:

  • At least one fat, firm yoga bolster (two is even better!)
  • At least one yoga block (two is even better!)
  • Three yoga blankets, or if not available, thick bath/beach towels or Mexican blankets
  • 1-2 yoga straps (one long one or two shorter ones)
  • A yoga chair or simple kitchen chair
  • An eye pillow

At the end of each module there are short quizzes (see below under “Course Assessment Requirements”) to keep you engaged and ensure you’re integrating the information we’re giving you, and to help you prepare for the learning to come in the next module.

Course Assessment Requirements

At the end of each module you will be required to complete a short quiz that helps you solidify the learning. An 80% pass mark is required,  but don’t worry, the quizzes are multiple choice/ true-false and you can re-do the quiz as many times as you need to.

At the end of the course content you will be required to complete a Restorative Yoga ‘case study’ written assignment (with sample case studies provided). Upload this to the website (very easy) and one of our Bliss Baby Yoga online course facilitators will mark it, provide feedback and return it to you.

Then, all you need to do is complete our Online Feedback Form (your feedback is soooo important to us!) and you will receive your Completion Certificate that you can either print out or keep digitally to send to registration bodies (eg: Yoga Alliance / Yoga Australia) to gain all-important CPD (Continuing Professional Development Points).

The beauty of this online option of the Bliss Baby Yoga L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is that you can complete it in your own time, to fit around your other commitments. The total course hours that will be recorded on your Completion Certificate are 28 hours—this is what we estimate it will take you to complete this course, including the sample practices, reading, journaling, and completing your final assignment.

Because we understand that you’re fitting this course around other commitments that may include yoga teaching, working, or being a parent, you have 12 months to complete this course, and the information and resources in this course downloadable (yours to keep forever). How you pace your study-load, that’s up to you, and what works best for your lifestyle.

What past course participants say about our Online Level 1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Course
'Ana’s passion for women’s health and passion for Restorative Yoga really shows. As a yoga teacher in my sixties who’s been practicing since the 1970s, I am now getting back pain and have some osteoarthritis and spondylolisthesis in my lumbar spine from doing “stupid stuff” such as pushing hard to get into certain asanas, trying to keep up with everyone, etc. This course changed me and my perspective by offering me an invitation to rest, to appreciate my body and to BALANCE my rigorous vinyasa practice with a practice that allows healing and restoration. As an experienced yoga teacher who lives in a rural area and who works a full-time job, it was wonderful to have access to this course online and not have to travel. I found the course practical and accessible. The website is great and I never had a single problem with it. I have been able to apply the knowledge and techniques due to excellent instruction.'- Michele, USA
'Ana and Lisa – you have genuinely inspired me with your obvious passion, and I feel humbled to have learnt from two people who very clearly are extremely knowledgeable. I liked being able to see how to get into and out of each pose, as well as how to achieve alignment in the poses. The verbal instructions that accompanied each pose in the demonstration videos were of excellent quality. The technology was very easy to navigate, and the course materials were rich with information and were of a very high standard. I’ve already been recommending your Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course to anyone who will listen to me. You have a truly high quality product here! I can’t wait for the Level 2 course!'- Claire, QLD, Australia
'I loved this training. It was so comprehensive and I could easily apply it to my classes. I have started teaching a restorative class already and my students are LOVING it! The great thing about this course is that you can walk away and feel ready to teach right away. Ana provides a beautiful sequence that is a great starting off point and then with the knowledge she provides about each pose, it's easy to get creative from there. I also loved the case studies. I didn't have to complete anything like that for my 300 hr YTT and I thought it was an important tool as it immediately tested your knowledge and the application of what you learn through the course. Ana was fantastic - I felt like she was in the room with me teaching me. I also loved her presentation. It was always a pleasure to log in to my training modules because Ana was soothing and nurturing and presented the information in a really calming way. The knowledge that Lisa presented was amazing. I love to give little scientific cues in my classes now, and love teaching my students about the vague nerve. I loved my 1-on-1 phone call with Star. We not only went over the case study, but she answered my questions about teaching restorative and she also answered my general questions about teaching yoga, planning classes, and when to just teach with your intuition. I will be taking her advice with me into my future classes. I will highly recommend this course, especially for yoga teachers that have a lot on their plate and need to have a flexible format and an easily laid out course that they can complete when it is convenient for them. As a mother of 2 kids under 3, this was the perfect way for me to complete my training. I'm already looking into the Restorative Level 2!'- Hannah, South Australia
'I found this course to be beneficial on both a personal and professional level. In the year following the birth of my third child, I was exhausted! The restorative yoga has helped me immensely and I have practiced almost every day since I enrolled on the course. I can't wait to share this magical practice with my family, friends and yoga students. Over the past 12 years, I have attended lots of yoga teaching courses, both in person and online. In my opinion, the Bliss Baby Yoga courses have been the most thorough. The website is easy to navigate and I have been so impressed with all of the content. It really approaches learning from all perspectives (visual/written/audio). I loved every aspect of the course and especially enjoyed the case study assignment. I feel confident to share Restorative Yoga with others after completing this course, and will continue to practice it regularly myself. I love the support system that is in place through the final video call and the facebook group. It feels like I have found a new yoga family. I highly recommend this course, you will learn a lot, both on a personal and professional level! The teachers and content are fabulous. I loved every minute of the course and am excited to enrol onto the Level 2 Restorative Yoga course.'- Claire, UK
'I really enjoy how open you are Ana, how welcoming and generous in the lessons you give. I am nearly 57, I have arthritis, I'm overweight, I've always practiced yoga, but came to teaching late. None of that matters and this is what I have felt by taking part in this course and also in your postnatal course - you create an environment where everyone is welcome and everyone can learn. I learned so much about the internal benefits of restorative yoga and about how to really enthuse people about the practice. I feel much more confident in being able to offer restorative yoga and explain its benefits to people. I found the videos and the audio recordings easy to access and for the practical sessions, I loved to be able to see what Ana was doing and copy it. I like that I can play the videos over and over again and I enjoyed being able to go at my own pace. We moved house this year, which was very busy and stressful, so I liked that I could dip in and out of the course and pick up where I'd left off. I loved my Skype with Star who was such an easy person to chat to and so generous with her advice and guidance. I really feel very confident after speaking with her that I can go out and lead restorative classes.'- Caroline, UK
'The materials were incredibly well thought out and professional without being ‘slick’. I have done other on-line courses and the audio-visual was neither audible or able to be seen! Very impressed with the layout, quality and content of the on-line course materials.'- Linda, NSW, Australia
'I felt very satisfied with this course. I felt that any support and communication was just an email away and all communication was answered quickly and efficiently. Ana Davis’ voice, teachings and explanations were excellent, as well as the whole presentation. She is natural, down to earth and very easy to relate to.'- Judith, NSW, Australia
'This was my first ever experience with Restorative Yoga, and it leaped over my expectations. I never imagined an asana that was static would be so beneficial, calming, relaxing… just amazing! I’ll definitely be incorporating Restorative poses into my general flow classes, with the intention of working up to full Restorative classes in the future.'- Rebecca, QLD, Australia
'I greatly benefited from the L1 Restorative course with Bliss Baby Yoga on both a personal and professional level. On a personal level, the course helped me to understand the importance of slowing down and the benefits of practicing Restorative Yoga more in my own life more regularly, particularly when my body is calling for it. On a professional level, I feel the thorough knowledge, skills and techniques I have gained from completing the course will greatly benefit students in my classes, as I have a deeper understanding of the therapeutic benefits of Restorative poses, as well as ensuring my students understand the importance of Restorative Yoga and why they need to ensure they are as comfortable as possible. I loved how I could easily adapt the professional knowledge I received from this course into my yoga environment. I really enjoyed receiving feedback at the end of the course and going through my assignment with Star - it really helped me to absorb more of the knowledge and cement it into my teaching practice. Star has such a passion for Restorative Yoga and gave me some beautiful feedback that made me thoroughly think about how I can adapt my Restorative practice so it can include all. I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Highly recommend.'- Simone, QLD, Australia
'I learned so much in the Bliss Baby Yoga Level 1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training! I've taken countless restorative yoga classes as a student but with this online course, I enjoyed diving deeper into the benefits of various poses as well as understanding the contraindications, all of which will help me create sequences to safely support my students. The materials were useful and easy to navigate. The manual featured illustrations and written descriptions of the poses that were clear and logical while the online training featured several videos of sequences or individual poses designed to help you fully immerse yourself in the practice. The course included a nice mix of audio and video lectures. I really appreciated getting to chat face to face with a BBY teacher after submitting my written assignment. The written assignment is highly practical and the video call at the end gave me an opportunity to delve deeper into various aspects of the training. The presenters were excellent and I really enjoyed speaking with Star! I found her comments to be practical and supportive, and after her insightful feedback and her warmth during our conversation, I would love to take a restorative class with her one day. The L1 Restorative Yoga Training was my second online training with Bliss Baby Yoga and I continue to be impressed with both their content and delivery. The material is clear, well thought out, and easy to understand and is presented in a variety of ways (audio lecture, articles to read, videos, etc). BBY offers quality online trainings that have thoroughly prepared me to lead students in safe, effective, and enjoyable sequences.'- Kathryn, Spain
'The Bliss Baby Yoga L1 Restorative Yoga TT Course helped me deepen my restorative yoga teaching and personal practice both in the breadth of postures introduced and the study of mechanisms that make them so nourishing. Indeed, one of my favorite words from the training is 'nourishing', which I think describes the course perfectly. t's my second restorative certification and I've already incorporated what I've learned in teaching and my personal practice. I enjoyed learning about the vagus nerve more in-depth and how to stimulate the occulocardiac reflex in order to switch the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic (fight, flight, freeze) to parasympathetic (rest and digest). It's very empowering to know simple, yet powerful techniques, how to employ them to help others, and understand why some people on the spectrum may exhibit certain behaviors. Restorative Yoga is a delicious way to balance the autonomic nervous system and come home to one's own Self. Looking forward to Level 2!'- Sally, USA
'The course was lovely. Ana’s knowledge and way of teaching is very beautiful. The content was well explained and the information was very valuable. I am already applying all the knowledge and techniques that I have learnt with success and with confidence. The information was delivered in such a simple but powerful way – everything was very straight forward, easy to understand and accessible to everyone. I really enjoyed doing the assignment and the Skype session with Star was lovely – her support, feedback and knowledge were very well appreciated.'- Petra, NSW, Australia
'I benefited from the Bliss Baby Yoga Online L1 Restorative Yoga TT course on both a personal and professional level. Personally, it worked as an anchor, it helped me through difficult times and I keep coming back to it every week to cultivate it's grounding effect. Professionally, I fell in love with the teaching of Restorative Yoga, it's my favorite Yoga style to teach, and I am very passionate about it and how I want to give it to my students. With the whole course and all the references you gave I feel comfortable about applying the knowledge and techniques I learned.'- Anna, France
'I found this course highly beneficial for me on both a professional and personal level. I will continue to and I already have started to apply the knowledge and techniques provided in this course in both my own practice and teaching. I am very grateful for all those involved who worked hard to make this course enjoyable and easy to follow. The course manual is concise and has all the necessary tools we need to understand restorative yoga. Videos and lectures are informative with great sound and video quality. All instructors have sound knowledge and deep understanding of yoga. The mentoring video call with Star was fantastic! We had a great chat about yoga, the benefits of restorative yoga and how to incorporate a feminine approach into teaching. Ana's deep understanding of yoga and her passion is evident in the course. She is brilliant writer and speaker and she makes everything easy to understand. She has an honest style of teaching and I am lucky to have found this incredible online course. Looking forward to starting Level 2!'- Ritcha, Singapore

Bliss Baby Yoga Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training_3

A Completion Certificate (PDF electronic file) is provided once you’ve completed the course. The total course hours on this completion certificate is 30 non-contact hours.

Members of both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia are required to complete ongoing professional development to keep their membership current. By completing the Bliss Baby Yoga Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course, teachers are able to accrue some of these necessary professional development hours as well as to gain the all-important knowledge and skills to launch them into this specialised area of  yoga practice and teaching.

Our Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course is made up of non-contact hours of study, however as our course includes an assessment component (final themed class assignment & prac teaching), for Yoga Australia members (as per their Continuing Education Policy) the hours spent completing our course are counted as contact hours, core to yoga teaching (1 point per hour). The Bliss Baby Yoga Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course is 30 hours, so Yoga Australia members will accrue at least 30 CPD points.

Our 30 hour Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course (non-contact hours) can therefore meet the 20 non-contact hours requirement.

Once you’ve enrolled and your payment is confirmed, you’ll be sent an email with your log-in details to log in to our special student section of the website where you can get started with your course.

The Online L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course is easy to navigate—it’s all clearly laid out and you don’t have to be a ‘techy’ person to figure it out!

This course consists of 4 modules.

  • One yoga bolster
  • One yoga block
  • 2-3 yoga blankets, or if not available, thick bath/beach towels or Mexican blankets
  • A yoga strap
  • A yoga chair or simple kitchen chair
  • An eye pillow

At the end of the first three modules there are short quizzes (see below under “Course Assessment Requirements”) to keep you engaged and ensure you’re integrating the information we’re giving you, and to help you prepare for the learning to come in the next module.

Course Assessment Requirements

At the end modules 1-3 you will be required to complete a short quiz that helps you solidify the learning. An 80% pass mark is required,  but don’t worry, the quizzes are multiple choice/ true-false and you can re-do the quiz as many times as you need to.

At the end of the course content you will be required to complete both a Themed Class Plan written assignment and short prac teaching assessment that you will record and submit. One of our experienced Restorative Teachers will review it and give your feedback.

The beauty of this online option of the Bliss Baby Yoga L2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is that you can complete it in your own time, to fit around your other commitments. The total course hours that will be recorded on your Completion Certificate are 30 hours—this is what we estimate it will take you to complete this course, including the sample practices, reading, journaling, and preparing for and completing your final assignments.

Because we understand that you’re fitting this course around other commitments that may include yoga teaching, working, or being a parent, you have 12 months to complete this course, and the information and resources in this course downloadable (yours to keep forever). How you pace your study-load, that’s up to you, and what works best for your lifestyle.

What past course participants say about our Online Level 2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Course
'The Bliss Baby Yoga Level 2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is a woven together in a synergistic balance of theory and practical. The deeply feminine approach is clearly offered from a place of deep knowing as each of the facilitators draw on their wisdom and knowledge, sharing this information in an easily relatable and digestible way. Not only aesthetically pleasing, the platform is easy and seamless to navigate. It truly is fabulous! The combination of video classes, lectures, assignments and the prac teaching were so wonderfully balanced and in great relationship to one another. I feel the led classes by Ana, Star and Lauren to be highly beneficial as each teacher brings their own unique flair to the practice which is deeply nutritious and inspiring. The course is well structured with information to support personal and professional growth. The manual is comprehensive and clear as well as the slide presentation/lectures. I particularly love the topic of Mindful Self Compassion - it truly is a keystone to the practice. The final video call/prac teaching was phenomenal. Star held space so beautifully and offered supportive guidance which really landed in my bones. I loved this connection as the culmination of our studies, thank you. I feel really spoilt!'- Kirstie, VIC, Australia
'I work as a physiotherapist in a rehabilitation clinic. My patients suffer from severe cancer. Everything I have learned in the Bliss Baby Yoga Restorative Yoga Teacher Training courses, I can and apply in my daily practice.'- Jacqueline, Switzerland

What past course participants say about our Online Level 1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Course
'I loved the Online L1 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training course! I found it really informative and beneficial and a wonderful addition to my yoga teaching tool-kit. All of the content was easy to access. I was happy to have the videos as well as the audio lectures – I felt it helped to fully understand by seeing the postures demonstrated. There was a perfect balance between prac and theory, and the education on understanding the nervous system was really beneficial for me and also learning about the vagus nerve.'- Teysha, NSW, Australia
'I felt that my personal yoga practice grew and developed with the Restorative practice. It has helped me to listen even more deeply to my body. Professionally, it’s enabled me to include Restorative postures in a flow class and into my other work in the health sector. I love the format of the course. I like the combination of different teaching methods. I also found the practical assignment helpful. I found all the presenters to be warm, informative and helpful. I have thoroughly enjoyed this training. I felt the pace was excellent, I enjoyed the combination of teaching methods.
